Medication Administration

This course is suitable for employees who are required to administer medicines to clients in residential and home settings. Topics covered include the definition of administering and assisting clients to take medicines, legal implications, legislation on storage and administration, good practice, record keeping, drug interactions and reporting.

Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
This course covers the reason why liberty may need to be restricted and how safeguards are put into place to protect people’s rights to liberty and how it works in relation to the MCA

Infection Control
Topics covered include the ten Standard Infection Control Protocols (SICP’S) and how these can be applied in the clients care setting

Dementia Awareness

Topics covered include the different forms of dementia, their causes and symptoms and how to maintain quality of life for sufferers

Adult Protection Awareness

This course addresses the way that vulnerable adults may be abused and the obligations upon carers to report such abuse. Reporting procedures and policies

Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam

Topics covered include; what is epilepsy?, epilepsy signs and symptoms, focal epilepsy & tonic clonic seizures, the dangers of status epilepticus, the use of midazolam to control status epilepticus and the administration of buccal midazolam
